On behalf of the Eagle Rock Elementary PTA we wish to congratulate our Gold Medal winning Science Olympians who competed with 51 other Elementary Schools (Division A) in what was a record setting number of competing Elementary Schools and what was also touted as the nation’s largest showing of Elementary Schools in the history of the Science Olympiad! Our team participated in 20 events with each student participating in two or three events. Thank you students and parents for your commitment and hard work in preparing for this annual challenge and additional thanks to our teachers Alicia Stanco (5th Grade) and Marvilla Bonilla (6th Grade) for leading our team and bringing home another Gold! The following students competed in the 27th Annual Los Angeles County Science Olympiad which took place this past Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Occidental College. 4th Grade: Mathilda Barr, Eleanor Burnett-Stuart, Finn Dore, Keiko Utsumi and Itzel Whyte-Aguayo 5th Grade: Ava Frisina, Treyton Littlejohn, Simone Midby, Lola Selby, Serena Strickland and Jasper Talwani 6th Grade: Jaasiel Alvarez, Erin Crouchley, Charlize Ea, Arianna Mah-Candelaria and Veronica Tossberg We would also like to congratulate our neighbors at Dahlia Heights Elementary for their Gold Medal performance in their first appearance at the Science Olympiad! Preliminary Scores For your generosity in making our Teacher Appreciation Lunch a tremendous & delicious success! We had a terrific turnout and a wonderfully abundant display of food to share with our staff on Tuesday, December 11. The PTA would like to thank all of our parent volunteers without whom this would not have been possible. You are a valuable asset to our school community! The PTA would also like to extend special thanks to Patti Escobedo for delivering our extra food to our local food bank and reaching out to assitance some of our needy members in the community. Proceeds earned will go towards the funding of our 6th Grade Culmination. Please join us Thursday, 10/25 to cast our final vote to approve our 2012-2013 Budget. We will meet in the Multipurpose Room at 6:30p to review the final line item of our Budget to determine how you (Parents and Teachers) would like to earmark the funds we raise. Field Trips? Tech?
